The first Country to legalize same-sex marriage was The Netherlands in 2001. Since then, the number of Countries recognizing Same-sex marriage has grown to 14, with a large number of other Countries poised to approve it shortly. Soon, any Country that does not recognize Same-sex marriage as a FUNDAMENTAL right of it's citizens will be perceived as backwards and bigoted. (Imagine if a Country still outlawed Interracial marriage in this day and age.)

I just want to add that Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington have all approved of marriage equality. Officially!

(Edit: All from the United States.)

`And let us also add: Ecuador, while officially banning same-sex "marriage," does consitutionally recognize same-sex civil unions with all rights of marriage except for joint adoption.
