I think chemistry doesn't necessarily always happen immediately. I think that sometimes our minds put up barriers as to how we think we should act instead of just going with our gut instincts and then we end up making things awkward when they can actually be pretty pleasant. So yes, it definitely can build over time, when people learn to let their guard down and just be themselves!
