Newly Out In Nebraska Hey,
My name is Michael and I am new to life in Nebraska a gay guy. I have been very academically successful, but with all of the time that I have spent the last 3 years on school work I have kind of neglected my taking care of my self and my personal life, and I am hoping to turn that around. I would consider my self out here in Nebraska, and to most of my friends back home in Kansas, but coming from a very conservative family the process has been rather slow with my family. Currently my mother is the only person I have told.
Academically: I am working towards medical school and becoming a family physician, I teach a lab at UNL, and I will be doing research for the GLBTQ resource center on campus for the next couple of years in an effort to improve the quality of health care provided to the GLBTQ community.
I am a psychology major, which I think really fits my personality because I like to talk with and get to know people. I also really like listening to people talk about their lives and experiences, so if you are looking for someone to talk to, I might be your guy. In my past life I was a 3 sport athlete, and my father`s prized son, and with the exception of my best friend all of the people I have ever been friends with never would have even guessed that I am gay, so I would say that I am fairly masculine, which of course has been a small point of contention.
I work with a lot of people throughout my day, but I am a bit of an introvert in my personal life. I enjoy hanging out and studying at coffee houses, and one on one, intimate conversations. I am just starting to date, so I can’t say that I have any real strong preferences. I am just really interesting in getting to meet new people here in Nebraska and I am flirting with the possibly of starting to date.
